Leelanau Peninsula Wineries
The Leelanau Peninsula lies west of Traverse City and extends 30 miles north into Lake Michigan. It is home to the Sleeping Bear Dunes, many inland lakes, orchards, farms, vineyards and wineries.
Like its sibling, the Old Mission Peninsula, the Leelanau Peninsula has a varied climate. Being a larger landmass, the changes are less drastic but they play heavily into the viticulture. Its larger hills and deeper valleys make a challenging terrain to navigate but the same hills and valleys can provide shelter from harsh weather and provide a nurturing environment ideal for wine grapes. All this makes Leelanau Peninsula wine unique and its no wonder that so many wineries have won national awards!
With so many vineyards and wineries, you will have plenty of options to explore with both exhilarating scenery and spectacular wines. Enjoy!
